Hatsumoude, visit to the Suwa Jinja on new years's eve.

The visit at the local temple on the new year's eve is a stron felt tradition in Japan. The priest bless the sake's barrel, the people wearing traditional clothes, called happy, carry it aroud the temple's garden on the kinde of sledge. Then the priest and some important people open the barrel with wodden hammers. Finally the sake is offered, I tested it (of course), and people can start shaking the big rope to play a bell and say prayer, afther throw some coins in a box. I carried with me only the camera with the 85 mm lens, fully opened at f 1.4,I worket between 800 and 1600 iso, hand-held.
